George Kallivayalil has been a senior journalist and Chief of Bureau and Associate Editor of Deepika newspaper in Delhi. He became the youngest Resident Editor in the Malayalam newspaper industry after getting a triple promotion at a very young age. Widely traveled he was privileged to cover Pope Francis on many of his foreign tours including the visits abroad of the lndian President and the Prime Minister. He held positions as secretary of the Trivandrum Press Club and South Asian Media Commission. He was also a member of the Kerala University Senate and President of the Rotary club of Kalamassery.Presently he is the global President of Global Malayali Press Club (GMPC).
Dr. Darsana Manayath Sasi is a faculty member in the Department of Asian Studies, Universi- ty of Texas at Austin. She has accomplished herself in imparting Malayalam language studies for American born Keralites. Dr. Darsana with the help of Dr. Davis, the HOD of the department & the university managed to institute a permanent endowment scholarship program for the undergraduate, Hon. & research programs in Malayalam language & litera- ture by raising funds for the same. Dr. Darsana recently published the Malayalam translation of Michelle Obama’s memoir, ‘BECOMING’. She is the program convenor of the LANA regional convention 2022 which is to be conducted at South Asian Institute campus, Austin, Texas. She has a keen interest in South Indian folklore forms.
